Thank You!Thank you so much, everyone, for all of your generosity, enthusiasm, and the outpouring of love we received at our wedding. We are so grateful for you—our friends and family. Thank you for making our wedding day so unbelievably beautiful and special, one we will remember all our lives.Photos![]() Our photographer, Kate Rose, has created an online slideshow of select pictures from the wedding if you want to check them out. (Just send an email to Jon or Gina for the password.) A website with over 500 of her photos from the wedding will be online soon, where you'll be able to order prints online; we'll let you know when it's ready. Enjoy! Welcome!
Welcome to our wedding site! We're glad you made it. Here you'll find everything you need to know about our big day; for starters, it's on Saturday, September 1st, 2007, so mark your calendar! (See how much you're learning already?) That's the Saturday of Labor Day weekend, so you'll have plenty of time to recover... err, I mean, make the most of your weekend in beautiful Boston, with bonus time to travel home! |
CeremonyThe ceremony will take place at Saint Cecilia's Catholic church in the Back Bay of Boston (18 Belvidere Street, Boston, MA - click here for directions and a map) at 11:30am. Early, I know, but there's a big day ahead! It will be a beautiful, real-deal mass with lots of music - appropriate, we think!Parking is tricky, of course, this being Boston, but we will try to arrange something with the church or a nearby garage. We do encourage visitors to get local and take the T if you feel up to it- St. Cecilia's is right near the Hynes/ICA stop on the Green Line. It's easy and cheap, and might save you more than money... driving and parking in Boston has forced many a man to the brink of his sanity. If you're staying at a hotel we suggest you just park your car away for the weekend and forget about it! We will provide free trolley service from the hotel to the church, and then from the church to Long Wharf after the ceremony... so you'll even get a little mini-tour of the city on your way to the reception! If you miss the trolley, taking a cab is another option; it's nary an 8 dollar ride from the downtown hotels. More details to follow. |
The Reception
Our wedding reception, we're excited to say, will be held on Thompson's Island in Boston Harbor. Yes, this means there will be a boat involved, but don't you landlubbers worry: we're not setting sail to George's Bank to harpoon humpback whales or anything. We'll be aboard a (very large) chartered Boston Harbor Cruise boat, and in the relatively tranquil waters of the harbor. The boat is scheduled to leave at 1:30PM SHARP from Long Wharf in downtown Boston. It's very important you be there. Yes, you! We don't want to leave you back on dry land- for one thing, you'll miss the... |
Cocktail HourAs mentioned, the charter boat leaves Long Wharf at 1:30PM. From there we'll cruise through Boston Harbor and enjoy a cocktail hour on board, complete with an open bar and appetizers. Yes, that's right, it's a booze cruise! Enjoy the fresh air and the harbor view, mingle with friends and strangers, and please try not to fall/throw anyone overboard. Please. We implore you. |
On the IslandWhen we get to Thompson's Island, be prepared to get a little messy with a New England style clambake (lobstahs, steamahs, and chowdah, dude). If you hate seafood, don't worry, there will also be BBQ chicken, corn on the cob, etc. There'll be food, music, drinks and dancing all afternoon... even some bocce and horseshoe games if the weather's kind to us.As day turns to night, we'll all head back to the dock (PLEASE-PLEASE do not miss this boat unless you plan on spending the night on the island!) for a beautiful sunset harbor cruise back to Long Wharf. There, the weary can retreat to their hotel rooms, while the brave may soldier onward into the Saturday night din of downtown Boston and Faneuil Hall.

Where to Stay
We've reserved a block of rooms for out-of-town guests at the Omni Parker House, a beautiful hotel smack dab in the center of Boston. To get the special rate of $199/night ($249 for a suite), call (617) 227-8600 and say you're with the Gorey-Favata wedding or RESERVE ONLINE HERE. Please try and make your reservations early; our special expires on August 1st, so don't wait too long before calling! If you'll be in town Friday night, you might want to take advantage of this: the Omni Parker House is running a special promotional package for $289/night that includes a pair of Red Sox tickets! This hotel is only a short walk from Long Wharf (where the boat will be leaving and dropping us off), Faneuil Hall, Boston Common, and most of Boston's other famous sites. It is also only a few steps away from both the Park Street T stop, which is the hub of Boston's subway system, and the Government Center T stop. Once you're in town and have parked your car, you shouldn't need it until the day you leave! Note: Valet parking at the Omni Parker House is $38/day, which is crazytown, especially for a weekend. There are plenty of garages close by that have much better rates between 5pm Friday and 5am Monday, including the Pi Alley Garage ($15/day) and the 75 State Street Garage ($12/day). If you're coming from the aiport, you can take the T directly to the Government Center T stop in about 20 minutes--tops! Or if you're shy of public transportation, it is a $25, 15-minute cab ride from the airport to the hotel. (If you are planning on flying, let us know and we can help you with arrangements.) The morning of the wedding, we will have shuttles to bring guests from the Omni Parker House to the church, and then from the church to Long Wharf to catch the boat. At the end of the night, it will be an easy walk back to the hotel, and if you're up for it, you could even bar hop the whole way home! We realize $199/night may not sound like such a bargain, especially if you're not accustomed to the extortionist pricing practices at Boston and New York hotels. So if the prices seem too steep for you, don't be worried. There are some smaller/boutique hotels and B&Bs within the city where you can find cheaper accomodation, and as Boston is such a compact city, you'll still be close to all the action: - The John Jeffries House (Studios $109; Standard Room $139) - Newbury Guest House B&B ($140/night; 3-night minimum stay) - The Copley House ($85-$200/night; $550-$1075/week) - Rutland Sq. B&B ($95-$150/night) Again, we encourage you to book your rooms early as these smaller hotels and B&Bs will fill up quickly. Lastly, you could always try your luck with Hotels.com. |
